Here you'll see an overview of all the settings and options available under the Camera Settings tab. This includes options for what camera to use for different displays, activation's, and specific settings between Webcam, DSLR and the Slow Motion Camera. The first section will cover the general Camera Settings, while the following sections will cover particular settings for Webcam, DSLR, and Slow Motion Camera.
Cameras supported by PBU are Windows compatible webcams, Canon DSLRs, and Point Grey Flea3 and Point Grey Grasshopper3 USB 3 cameras.
Camera Settings
Photo Camera: Select the camera you would like to use to take photos.
Video Camera: Select the video camera you would like to use to record video.
Main Screen Camera: Select the camera that will display on the main screen of PBU. You'll see the live view from this camera before you select an activation that uses a different camera.
Burst Camera: Select which camera you would like to use when creating Burst GIFs.
Mirror Camera Preview: Check this box to flip the live preview left to right. This makes it much easier for your guests to position themselves in the frame. All graphics will be flipped as well. This only affects the preview and will not flip your final output.
Notice the blue buttons for Webcam, DSLR, and Slow Motion Camera in the center of the screen. Selecting any of them will display the settings for that camera below the buttons, and display a live preview from the camera in the Preview window on the right.
Webcam
Video Device: Choose the webcam you would like to use from the drop down menu
Configure: Pressing this will launch the the webcam's own software which can be used to tweak camera settings further
Video Mode: Select a video resolution and frame rate from the drop down list. The numbers shown correspond to the width x height of the frame in pixels and at how many frames per second (FPS) any video will be recorded. The fps will also affect the live preview. If possible, we recommend 1920x1080 @ 30fps.
Webcam Orientation: Will rotate the preview and final images/video of the camera.
Audio Device: Select an audio device you would like to use to record audio together with the webcam. Most USB audio devices are supported.
Volume: Adjust the volume at which you would like to record your audio.
Enable Recording Pause: If you are recording video with the webcam this option will allow you to pause and resume the recording process. Disable this option if the webcam freezes or the program stops working when recording.
Keep Aspect Ratio: Choose the aspect ratio setting for the webcam by selecting from the drop-down. You'll be able to see how the ratio changes in the live preview window if you're camera is connected.
Crop %: Adjust the crop percentage of your selected device by typing the number in the corresponding box, or using the up/down arrows. The live preview window will automatically adjust to your crop settings.
DSLR
Refresh: If your DSLR is not being detected, make sure the camera is wired to your computer via USB and select Refresh. If it is detected, the camera model will appear.
DSLR Settings: Here you can configure the live view/video and photo settings for the DSLR camera. These settings include Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO, White Balance, and DSLR Image Quality. For more information on camera settings, check out our camera terminology and recommended settings tutorial HERE.
Enable Manual Trigger: Allows you to take photos with the DSLR camera by pushing the shutter button on the camera. Enabling this feature will disable live preview on the main screen. Note: You must also set the "Trigger Photo With" setting in the Preferences tab to Mouse. Countdown does not work with manual trigger.
Enable Flash Reset: This will trigger the flash at an interval that you set. Some flashes switch off automatically after not being used for a period of time, and this feature will prevent that from happening. You can adjust the reset time interval in minutes by typing in a value or by using the up/down arrows
DSLR Orientation: Will rotate the preview and final images/video of the camera.
Keep Aspect Ratio: Choose the aspect ratio for the DSLR by selecting from the drop-down. You'll be able to see how the ratio changes in the preview window on the right if your camera is connected.
Crop %: Adjust the crop percentage of your selected device by typing the number in the corresponding box, or using the up/down arrows. The live preview window will automatically adjust to your crop settings.
Manual Focus: Select this option if you would like to use the manual focus setting on your camera, as opposed to auto-focus. You can then use the -/+ buttons to manually focus the camera lens from PBU. The camera lens on the DSLR must be set to Auto Focus to be able to use this function.
Slow Motion Camera
Refresh: If your slow motion camera is not being detected, make sure the camera is connected to your computer via a USB 3 port and click Refresh. If it is detected, the name of the camera will appear.
Video Mode: Choose a video resolution and frame rate. Note that higher resolution requires more processing time and higher frame rates require more light. The supported resolutions and frame rates for the Point Grey Flea 3 are:
1328x1048 @ 120 fps
