AddThis is a 3rd party service that integrates with Event Manager.  Use AddThis to allow your guests to share to social media or follow your social media pages from their emails and Unique URLs.  This tutorial will guide you through the process of adding "follow" buttons to guests' emails and Unique URLs. AddThis provides free services as well as paid (Pro) services. For our purposes the free buttons are more than adequate, but you can use the paid buttons if you like. As your guests use the AddThis buttons, usage and metrics can be tracked through your AddThis account.

Note: This Instruction will focus on adding "follow" buttons to your Unique URL page. "Share" buttons (that allow your guests to share their photos on social media) are made very similarly in Addthis.

 Create an AddThis account

1.

Create an account at http://addthis.com then go to your account Dashboard. It can be found here: https://www.addthis.com/dashboard

2.

Click the three dots to the right of "Tools" and select "Share Profile." Like this:

3.

On the left under "Profile Options" select "General" and copy the ID code. If you wish you can rename the profile for your event.

4.

In Event Manager select the "Sharing" tab on the left, then "Unique URL" at the top of the page. Paste your ADD THIS Profile ID into the "AddThis.com tracking code" field as depicted below:

 Follow Buttons

1.

Return to your AddThis Dashboard and select "Tools" in the top menu.  Much like the sharing buttons, there are many follow buttons to choose from. We suggest "Horizontal Sharing Buttons," But any should work.

2.

Select "Get Code" in the "Horizontal Follow Buttons" box:

3.
In the "Services" section, fill in the information of whatever social sites you would like your guests to follow. A preview of your buttons will appear in the white box at the top. You may also change the "Title" of your follow buttons.

4.
Scroll down and notice that there are two code boxes. You will need to copy and paste BOTH into Event Manager, then click activate. We suggest you have a second browser tab open Event Manager to make this process easier.

5.

Paste both code snippets into the "Follow buttons from AddThis" box:

6.

Make sure you test your emails, and make sure the buttons work!

You're all set now to have working buttons at the bottom of your emails and unique URL's.
