Connectify is a third party software we suggest using for turning any device you have into a WiFi Hotspot.  Follow along below for more information regarding how Connectify can keep you connected.

Using a WiFi Hotspot is particularly useful at a large venue such as a Library, Museum or Convention center where the internet has a Firewall.  You can connect to the venue's internet with your computer that is running the Photo Party Upload Helper and set up a Connectify network of your own that doesn't have the Firewall restrictions of your venue and your Helper computer can now communicate with your tablets, and kiosk computers.

If you have NO INTERNET at a particular venue, and no Hot Spot of your own, Connectify can help you to set up a local network so your devices can speak to each other (eg. your computer running helper with your tablets that are running Photo Party Upload) and then you'd have to have the queued uploads send off from the helper once you're connected to the internet later. If that's the case you use our information to set up your Event Settings ahead of time while you have internet (follow these instructions: Using Photo Party Upload without Internet

For Connectify Settings, we suggest leaving them as the default settings that Connectify provides.

You can download the 2016 version from the attachment on this page.  Make sure to use the 2016 version.  The 2017 version will require you to restart the hotspot every 30 minutes and have been known to report errors that do not occur using the 2016 version. Furthermore the 2017 version has an ad blocker feature. If it is ON the facebook app will not open in PPU.

Connectify Troubleshooting

Connectify is a useful tool for creating local networks without firewalls. Sometimes, Kiosk has a hard time finding the Helper through a Connectify network. Follow these steps if you're having trouble.

1.

On the Helper PC, press the Windows button and find the search box. Type cmd and open Command Prompt.

2.

In the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig and press enter.

3.

In the wall of text you should be able to find two IPv4 addresses. You want to use the IP address from the section WITHOUT Default Gateway, as shown in the picture:

4.

In the Kiosk app, navigate to the PPU Helper tab and press Manual. Enter the IP address from step 3 and you should be able to connect.
