Having strong and consistent lighting is extremely important in photography and the best practices change based on the environment you're in and the type of activation you're creating. Check out below some of our tips on the best lighting scenario's based on your activation.
Standard Pictures:
- Built in flash
- If you're using a green screen and begin to experience shadows on the backdrop, set up a speed light on the base of the infinite and set it to slave mode. To set up this light on the base of the infinite, place batteries in the flash and set the Mode (M) to S2, and angle the flash slightly upward. This flash will automatically fire when the flashes on the top of the infinite do.
Classic GIF:
- Built in flash
- If you're using a green screen and begin to experience shadows on the backdrop, set up a speed light on the ground and set it to slave mode (toggle "Mode" on the back of the light, more flashes function similarly to this).
Burst GIF:
- Place one LED panel on top of the Infinite. It can be secured by screwing in the Infinite's included bobby pin to the top of the booth, then placing the LED panel onto the bobby pin. An LED panel like THIS should work well.
- Optional: two CFL (lights with defuses, similar to this softbox lighting kit) set at 45 degree from the green screen. Its role is lighting the background clearly.
Slow Motion Video:
- Place one LED panel on top of the Infinite. It can be secured by screwing in the Infinite's included baby pin to the top of the booth, then placing the LED panel onto the bobby pin. An LED panel like THIS should work well.
- Optional: two CFL (lights with defuses, similar to this softbox lighting kit) set to light the subject
Normal Video:
- One LED panel on top of the Infinite. It can be secured by screwing in the Infinite's included bobby pin to the top of the booth, then placing the LED panel onto the bobby pin. An LED panel like THIS should work well.
Green Screen Video:
- Requires two CFL (lights with defuses, similar to this softbox lighting kit) set at 45 degree from the green screen. Its role is lighting the background clearly.
- Also place one LED panel on top of the Infinite. It can be secured by screwing in the Infinite's included bobby pin to the top of the booth, then placing the LED panel onto the bobby pin. An LED panel like THIS should work well.
Light Painting:
- NO lights, the area must be very dark. (Turn of Infinite LEDs: Launch PBU > Press S to open Settings > Misc tab > Enable LEDs)
- Only use LED lights that will be used for the creation of the light effects
- If necessary, use a small torch light for safe navigation between sessions
