If your Infinite or Venture boots to a black American Megatrends screen, you should perform the following:
**You will need a wired USB keyboard, plugged into any open USB port on the booth**
Turn the machine on, and immediately start pressing F2. This will force the PC to boot into the BIOS Settings. Once in BIOS, use the keyboard arrow keys to check the following:
In the Advanced tab, select SATA Configuration and press Enter:
Check that your Drive shows in the SATA field. This will most likely be a Kingston drive showing the total capacity in GBs, as below:
If it shows up there, press Esc and use the right arrow key to navigate to the Boot Menu tab. Scroll down to Boot Option 1, then try cycling through the options using the + and - keys on the keyboard, to select the proper Hard Disk drive:
Once your drive is selected, press F10 to save BIOS settings. Allow the system to reboot and WIndows should load normally - this confirms you need to replace the BIOS battery on the motherboard. Follow further steps below for details.
If the hard drive does NOT appear in BIOS, the hard drive likely needs to be replaced. Contact LAPP Support.
You can see our video below on replacing the CMOS/BIOS battery:
If you decide to replace the battery on your own, we recommend purchasing from this link. Note: This is a multi-pack, but given the low cost this will help to avoid receiving a bad battery, and if you have multiple Infinite or Venture units you will have backups.
